Placement Fundamentals

Chokepoints Are Everything

The most important concept: place towers at natural chokepoints where enemies must pass:

• Corners and bends in the path — enemies spend more time in range
• Narrow passages — maximum coverage from each tower
• Path intersections — towers can hit enemies from multiple routes

Range Overlap

Place towers so their attack ranges overlap. An enemy should be under fire from 2-3 towers simultaneously for maximum damage.

Tower Type Strategy

• Basic towers: Cheap, fast-firing. Great in groups at chokepoints
• Splash damage towers: Place where enemies clump together (after corners)
• Slow towers: Put at the BEGINNING of long straight sections to maximize slowdown
• Sniper towers: High ground with maximum range coverage

Upgrade vs. New Towers

The eternal question — upgrade existing towers or build new ones?

• Early game: Build new towers for coverage
• Mid game: Upgrade key chokepoint towers for power
• Late game: Maximize upgrades on your best-positioned towers

Rule of thumb: A fully upgraded tower at a great position beats 3 basic towers at mediocre positions.

Wave Management

1. Scout the next wave type before it arrives
2. Adjust your towers for the threat (air vs. ground, fast vs. armored)
3. Save some gold for emergency towers if enemies break through

Common Mistakes

• Spreading towers evenly: Concentrate at chokepoints instead
• Ignoring tower synergy: Slow tower + damage tower = devastating combo
• Building too late: Place towers BEFORE the wave, not during
• Forgetting upgrades: Upgraded towers are far more cost-effective than many weak ones
